Budget: Hard, $7,000. Soft, $5,500
Transmission: Manual
Size: 4d, sedan or hatchback (preferably something that can carry at least a good portion of what I have at school back home)
Power: Moderate at least. Not looking for something like my bike, but also not looking for something that struggles to hit 60 in under 15 seconds
Also, not an expensive car to maintain. I suggested an e30, cuz duhh, but he already gets his thrills on his sport bike
I'm thinking Mazda 3 or VW
Also, he isn't in any rush, so we can wait to find the right one for the right price

manual V6 accord. Cheap to run, decently fun, and roomy. The trunk on my dads '07 is huge.

Depending on climate an Impreza sounds like a great choice. Here are a few examples:

I wish they also paired the manual with AWD. Honestly I'm mad I that I decided to waste my first car note on a 2013 Civic EX. It was nice but it didn't fit me like this Element. I'm a utilitarian type person.

I'm with you. Mazda 3 would be my first choice, then GTI. A $7k GTI is going to have a ton of miles, and therefore not be cheap to maintain but it will be worth it for the fun factor.

Wrx wagon (04-05) would be a good choice at the top end of that budget.

Mazda5? Space, available 5 speed MT in the older models.. sliding doors. 3 row seating, all rear seats fold down flat.

Lexus IS300.
That should be all the answer he needs. But just in case: a Saabaru or WRX would be good alternates.

Impreza Wagon,
Mazda 3's good, but it guzzles gas for its size.

2004-2007 Volvo S60R/V70R.
AWD
Manual
300hp/298ft-lb of torque.
Has a few issues that crop up every 100k miles or so...
Clutch slave fails, angle gear sleeve fails, struts fail, and the PCV system needs replacement every 100-150k miles dependent on driving style (all city vs all highway)
